Twelve of our swimmers qualified for this year’s county championships, five of them for the first time. The places were hard-won: three others achieved consideration times but didn’t get to swim, such was the standard of entries.
Our competitors enjoyed the experience and produced some impressive swims, the youngsters taking to the 50m pool with aplomb. Evie and Fearne reached the finals in their events and Evie broke the club 50m free long-course record not just once, but twice.
A big thank you to the coaches, who endured long hours on poolside, the team managers and officials, and to the more experienced swimmers in the team who were so good at supporting the newbies on poolside.
Pictured enjoying some fresh air is Lily, who came 10th in the 800m free despite having swum it for the first time only three months ago. She also took 75s off her time from then – go, Lily!
