Forthcoming events

Here’s a list of competitions between now and the start of October, to help you plan your diaries. Click on the link for each gala to be taken to a website with further details and advice. (If there isn’t one, it is because I haven’t received the meet pack yet: come back later.)

Which galas should my child enter?

• definitely the club championships. Free, at Meadowlands, intended for ALL members of the club. EVERYONE can manage 200m (8 lengths) freestyle. All except the very least experienced should do more than that. This is the perfect chance to push your comfort zone a little.
• If you’re a keen competitor, do both the Devon Sprints & Developments and the Summer Sizzler.
• The AP Race will suit those more experienced swimmers who would like to try something new
• The City of Plymouth gala in October is an ideal gala to start off the new season

May 15/17 and 22/ 24	Long distance club championships Meadowlands	All events 200m and above. EVERYONE should do at least something. The perfect chance to have a go at events you might not have tried, or tried very often, before. Free entry.
June 6/7 and 13/14	Devon Sprints and Developments	A gala for new or developing swimmers, run by Devon County. Offers all events, right up to 1500m. Suitable for all levels of swimmer (except Regional Qualifiers), even those who have not competed before.
June 27/28	AP Race	An Life Centre event with a very different feel. Enter this individually, not as a club – click on the link for more info. Suitable for those who have a season or two’s experience and would like to expand their boundaries a little. Talk to Gareth if you are interested.
July 11/12	Devonport Summer Sizzler	Last formal gala before the summer holidays. A hot weekend at the Life Centre, suitable for all except the least experienced.
July 19	Fun team gala	Fun team gala at Meadowlands to finish the term. Free entry, all welcome.
Sept 6	Devon Masters	Masters (over 18) swimmers only. Enter via the Devon ASA website. All speeds welcome! Plymouth Life Centre.
Oct 3, 4 & 10	City of Plymouth gala	Traditionally our first L3 gala of the season. Suitable as a first Life Centre gala, or as a first ever gala for the keen.
