Pre-event information
Heat sheets for Sunday evening
- Entries. The list showing what you/ your swimmer(s) have entered is here. Events 1-4 are on Friday evening; events 5-9 are on Sunday. If you have any changes, please let me know by 12 noon on Thursday for Friday’s events and 2pm on Saturday for Sunday’s events.
- Timings.
- Friday: warm-up starts 6pm; racing likely to end c.8pm
- Sunday: warm-up starts 4.30pm; racing likely to end c.7pm
- Please sign in with a team manager on poolside when you arrive
- Your child can leave as soon as they’ve finished their events, but do check whether they have a medal to collect first.
- Cake stall. There will be a cake stall in the cafĂ© on the Sunday. Please do contribute if you can. Bought is fine if baking isn’t your thing.
- Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help. We’ll also need three marshalls on poolside during each of the sessions. Please get in touch if you are willing to do this.
- VERY IMPORTANT if you/ your swimmer(s) have to withdraw from any events, please let me know ASAP and even if it is at the last minute. If I know someone isn’t going to turn up, I can often rejig the heats so we don’t get lots of empty lanes.
- Awards. As well as giving out medals for 1st – 3rd in each age group (7-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17 & over; note the age is age at year end) we will be giving out Texaco Service Station medals for everyone in the first two age groups who completes four events over the weekend. These are lovely; well worth entering an extra event or two to give yourself a chance of winning one.
Who should enter? Everyone! If you aren’t sure whether your swimmer is capable of a particular event, then talk to one of the coaches. But, in general:
- we expect almost everyone to enter all the 50s and the 100m IM
- they should do as many of the 100m back, breast and free as they want. If they are wavering, err in favour of giving it a go. One of the roles of the club championships is to let children experiment with going beyond their comfort zone. They’re an excellent place to make mistakes!
- The 100m fly will be subject to coach approval. If your swimmer would like to enter it, tick the event as usual. The coaches will review all entries and let you know if we think it would be better to give it a miss this time.
