AP Race Plymouth Summer Open
What? A newish (this is its second year) event at the Life Centre, run by AP Race, a brand built by Adam Peaty with the aim “to help every single swimmer, coach and parent become… Better Than Yesterday.”
When? 28th & 29th June
Where? Plymouth Life Centre.
Cost? Varies with distance, starting at £10/ 50m
Who? In theory suitable for almost anyone except the very fastest (performance swimmers, note the cut-off times). However, going by last year, this is a gala with a different style. Instead of waiting on poolside, swimmers sit in a separate room and are brought in for their race, entering one by one and being announced to the spectators. Claire Palmer, whose daughter swam in the event last year, will be able to give you more details. Recommended for experienced swimmers who would like a change. If your child is inexperienced and still getting used to the way galas work, please consider with them whether the different approach will enthuse or terrify them. Gareth will be there on both days to offer support.
Closing date? Sunday 15th June, midnight. Note that entries are made directly on the race website (see below) NOT via TSC or Club Organiser. If the meet is oversubscribed, entries will be taken on a first come, first served basis, so don’t delay!
Swim England membership level? You will need to have Swim England Club Compete membership to enter. Upgrading from Club Train costs £26 and covers the rest of 2025. It is a very simple process: just ask Caroline or Mel and they will do it for you.
Timetable? See picture below or download timetable here.

How do I enter? Online at https://swimming.events. It is a three-step process: see para.5 of the Promoters Conditions in the Meet Pack (link below) or the attached extract. If you wish to enter an event for which you don’t yet have an official time, ask Gareth or Jacob for an estimate. You will need to give this when you enter.
