Exciting news from the National Championships, where we had three swimmers competing in the event held at the National Water Centre in Nottingham.
Hannah and Charlotte Walker were competing in the 20-24 age group and Sam Lake in the 45-49 age group. They began with a 750m swim in the regatta lake followed by a very tough off road and undulating 5km run around the lake.
Charlotte achieved a fantastic National silver medal and Hannah a superb 6th in their very tough and competitive age group. Sam raced into gold to become national champion in her age group amongst the largest field of athletes.
Sam then hot footed it over to Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield to take part in the Swim England National Masters Open Water Championships the following day. She raced in the 3km distance which entailed 3 x 1km laps of the lake. A super strong race performance saw her becoming National Champion in her age group of 45-49, finishing 6th female overall and smashing her 3km pb by 6 minutes in the process!
